You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION of NAVAL BASE VENTURA COUNTY.

Duties

You will inspect new construction for inclusion of fire prevention materials or equipment. You will inspect fire stations to verify training objectives are being accomplished. You will identify hazardous conditions or practices to determine appropriate corrective action.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in conducting fire safety training; 2) Writing fire inspection reports and recommending corrective action; 3) Maintaining records related to fire prevention, protection, and education; 4) Using fire regulations, policies or procedures to identify fire hazards. Work Environment: The performance of work involve a mixture of office related work and exposure to a variety of hazardous conditions which may include: High nose areas oxygen deficient/enriched atmospheres, hazardous material storage areas, spray painting operations, POL facilities, welding/cutting operations, weapons storage areas, high voltage electrical vaults,/rooms, LOX areas and construction areas or building under renovation. Applicable safety and monitoring programs such as hearing conservation have been instituted for the incumbents required participation.
