This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Salem VA Medical Center (VAMC), in the Social Work Service Line. This position provides first line technical and administrative support to the Housing, Urban Development, Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program, SUD/Contract housing and Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to the following:
Possess understanding of the mission and internal organization of services provided by the HCHV Program in order to comprehend intra hospital and intra agency relationships with the public.
Perform administrative, analytical, planning, and evaluation work in support of the Social Work Service Line and Master of Social Work (MSW) training program.
Assist the Social Work Service Line Chief and the Administrative Officer in providing administrative support for Social Work Service and is responsible for providing administrative and technical program support to the Social Work Service MSW field placements.
Perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality care, outstanding customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving Veterans, their families, and internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for providing exceptional personal contacts with Veterans and their families, community partners, referral sources, Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), the general community and other VA program staff, either in person or by telephone.
Maintain calendar for deadlines and ensure staff respond appropriately to meet target deadlines. Determines which responses can be acted upon personally and completes required action.
Provide administrative supervision and guidance regarding administrative issues, organizing in-services for interns providing education for submitting time, computer access and serves as point of contact for issues interns may have.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: ensure the office clerical and administrative work is accomplished effectively, utilizing a variety of computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. Type and compose various kinds of correspondence to include memorandums, correspondence, reports, policies, and congressional and VHA reports. Knowledge of timekeeping procedures, rules, and regulations in order to process timecards.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, but involves walking, standing, minor lifting of office equipment and supplies and may require stair climbing. Occasionally, the incumbent may be required to assist in moving portable tables, chairs, or audio-visual equipment for use by the Service.
