You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Nuclear) in the Nuclear Quality Division (Code 2305) of PSNS and IMF. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position. Pay Retention will be extended to eligible Federal Government employees selected for this formal employee development program.

Duties

You will assist with the planning, developing and administering quality assurance audit and surveillance reports of Shipyard activities engaged in nuclear work. You will assist or conduct, under the guidance of a Senior Specialist, the evaluation of replies to audit action items and deficiency reports. You will, under the guidance of a Senior Specialist, be responsible for reporting problems in assigned projects, organizations, and functions to managers/supervisors to assure the supervisor has timely knowledge of emergent problems/trends. You will participate in meetings where Quality Assurance Specialists represent the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department in assigned nuclear auditing and process management matters. You will be responsible for keeping current with the latest requirements, and with information and new developments available in areas of responsibility.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The entry level for this position is GS-7 with a full performance level of GS-12. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Education

In lieu of experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

A successfully completed one full year of graduate level education with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position;

OR

A successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position;

OR

Have combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
