About the Position: Serve as a civilian military Human Resources Assistant with the responsibility for the independent processing of a variety of military personnel transactions and/or review and verification of transactions and reports for factual accuracy, procedural and substantive sufficiency. This is a PERMANENT Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation) position with the Directorate of Human Resources located at Fort Jackson, SC.
Duties
Perform a variety of clerical duties such as maintain files and compose routine correspondence.
Review military personnel records to assure completeness and identify inconsistencies.
Process personnel actions for arriving and departing military personnel.
Update and maintain data in multiple Human Resources data systems.
Answer questions and explain procedures pertaining to entitlements and processes.
Operate personnel computer to prepare a variety of correspondence into final form.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying a standardized body of military human resources rules, procedures, and operations concerning military personnel; verifying documents, and record maintenance & accountability; and experience using military human resources automation systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
