You will serve as a SUPERVISORY REGIONAL CASUALTY ASSISTANCE/FUNERAL HONORS COORDINATOR in the Commander, Navy Region Southwest of COMNAVREGSW SDIEGO.

Duties

.You will coordinate funeral honors with a casualty assistance team, funeral honors program members, funeral or cemetery director, next of kin, and other interested parties to include and update personnel. You will advise others on the interpretation and application of administrative directives and instructions. You will coordinate casualty assistance and funeral honors for service members and their families. You will develop training to guide personnel in casualty operations (e.g., reporting, notification, assistance) and funeral honors. You will work with customers to determine requirements, priorities, and resolve conflicts. You will evaluate program assessments to determine quality of funeral honors and casualty assistance operations. You will schedule a Military Funeral Honors for an assigned region.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • The work requires long periods of sitting at a desk, intense concentration and working with individuals under stress from the loss of loved ones. Work is fast-paced and requires quick responsive action.
  • Training requires long periods of standing during instruction.
  • Incumbent is on-call during off-hours, as necessary, to render assistance or to provide advice during specific casualty situations.
  • Work requires travel away from the normal duty station on a regular basis.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serves as the technical advisor for the Casualty Assistance Calls Program and the Funeral Honors Support Program; 2) Advises on proposed reorganizations and/or realignment of program services and manning changes; 3) develop and implement program policies, Standard Operating procedures and guidelines to accomplish effective operation of the programs; and 4) represent the command as the CAC/FHS program coordinator in contact with military and civilian communities.
