The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Information Security Specialist serving in an operational capacity,
performs assignments designed to orient the employee in the area of Network Warfare Operations (NW Ops) to identify
and analyze threats to USAF and DoD personnel, interests, and resources worldwide.
Duties
-Implements and administers the Information Security Program for the squadron. Implements DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and develops local procedures for the classification and protection of classified national defense and other sensitive information originated or controlled by squadron activities
-Administers the Industrial Security Program. Reviews solicitation and contract documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and languages. Reviews DD Forms 254, Contract Security Classification Specifications, for technical accuracy and sufficiency of classification guidance prior to approval.
-Implements and administers the Personal Security Program for the squadron. Establishes local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel. Initiates and reviews all requests for
personnel security investigations consistent with directives.
-Assists base unit and staff agency security managers in implementing security education and motivation programs. Advises security managers of security training requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level; Wide range of knowledge of DoD and USAF security instructions, especially in reference to SCI and SAR
classified material. Intensive knowledge is required in order to formulate policy for operating in a SCI and SAR
environment. Intimately familiar with AFDD 2-5, DoD 2600 series, DoD S-5105.21 M-1, NISPOM, NISPOM Supplement, NISPOM Overprint, Joint DoDISS, and applicable security AFIs and DCIDs. Must be familiar with executive orders and U.S. Codes. Position requires practical knowledge of management practices, USAF planning and programming systems, organizational and functional concepts, national intelligence objectives related to SCI and SAR programs, and basic principles of Automated Information Systems (AIS). Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, access eligibility requirements, and the process for granting security clearances/accesses. Position requires knowledge and capability of planning, scheduling, and reviewing work, combined with the ability to make authoritative technical and administrative program decisions. Knowledge of security incident handling policy and procedures. Strong knowledge of Air Force Space Command and Air Force Intelligence and Surveillance Agency structures, missions, programs, and organizational relationships. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Thorough knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security procedures for physical, personnel, information and industrial security programs within the organization.
2. Practical and in-depth knowledge of AFSPC, AFISRA, and other Air Force MAJCOM mission, functions, goals, and objectives.
3. Ability to effectively write and orally communicate security information to various audiences, to include line staff and management.
4. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with co-workers, contributing to a cooperative
working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of command in all kinds of situations, to include processing the most sensitive information about personnel, handling alarms activations, interfacing with base security forces personnel, and keeping calm in emergency situations.
5. Ability to exercise sound judgment in planning, assessing, monitoring and using various computer programs with
diverse applications; ability to instruct students on a variety of topics crucial to today's Air Force, to include areas in
security management, risk assessment, and information and the ability to independently interpret and prepare security program guidance and initiate policies, guidelines, and procedures which meet requirements.
6. Extensive knowledge of security incident handling, to include computer incidents and incidents caused by human error and negligence, and extensive knowledge of DIA, DOD, USAF and joint COMSEC program.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT'D:
1. Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
2. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
3. Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection
Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial
assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The
listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
