About the Position: Serves as a Training Specialist using a combination of practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of instruction and practical knowledge of the subject-matter being taught.

Duties

Assess the need to schedule organizational training based on turnover rate and estimated influx of new staff. Coordinate with leadership to determine the proper resourcing for training activities. Verify all student academic records are handled and stored in accordance with applicable policies. Use computer software programs to input, develop, update, or manipulate data that produces charts, graphs, reports, or statistical information. Maintain administrative libraries, charts, records, and filing systems to support the training function. Maintain student records, class rosters, and course critiques to submit to supervisors upon completion of training event. Collaborate with subject matter experts to address the organization's training management requirements. Develop training schedules to meet multi-shift mission requirements. Coordinate with system developers regarding changes that may impact training. Provide assistance to managers in projecting training needs based on anticipated mission changes. Review Memorandums of Agreement or Letters of Offer and Acceptance to determine the impact on training support packages. Establish short or long range plans for educational courses to meet future training needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • The work of this position may require working in a field environment during hours of darkness requiring some overtime and night work and exposure to all types of weather conditions.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education, Teaching or Instructing in an Adult Education Program, Secondary School, College, Education and Training Instructions. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityManages and Organizes InformationTeamworkTraining and Education Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
