You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).
Duties
You will develop or modify existing technical work documents which define detailed requirements necessary to accomplish authorized work.
You will accomplish necessary research and analysis to produce engineering reports.
You will research, identify, and order material necessary to complete assigned work.
You will troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical, administrative, financial, and scheduling problems related to assigned work.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering planning services in preparation of technical work documents for ship modification, repair, and/or overhaul projects. Examples of qualifying experience may include: planning technical work documents; evaluating design or operational problems; developing, modifying or reviewing technical work documents; or developing testing repair plans and sequences for system certification.
FOR GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with technical engineering planning services in preparation of technical work documents for ship modification, repair, and/or overhaul projects. Examples of qualifying experience may include: assisting with the planning of technical work documents; evaluating design or operational problems; developing, modifying, or reviewing technical work documents; or assisting with the development of testing repair plans and sequences for system certification.
