Duties

As a TRAINING AND EXERCISE PROGRAM SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plan, organize, and act as observer for a wide range of complex communications activities involved in Combatant Command (CCMD) and Joint Task Force (JTF) exercise planning and execution. Research, interpret, analyze DOD, USTRANSCOM, and JECC directives, regulations, and operational technical manuals pertaining to communications programs and philosophy. Make comprehensive assessments and evaluations of subordinate elements' training program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long and short-range planning. Develop and synchronize command oversight programs related to Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) and the units designated to provide communications support to Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces for exercises and operations. Plan, coordinate, oversee, and document exercise participation of JECC members to meet present and future mission requirements.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Providing technical advice/assessments to managers and subordinate commands on policies and procedures for assigned training, and exercises. Planning, and acting as observer during execution of exercises with a primary focus on the command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) aspects of military exercises and operations. Leading and/or participating in exercise planning, conducting mission analysis, and tailoring force packages to meet exercise requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience..
