This position is located in the Laboratory of Epidemiology and Population Sciences (LEPS), National Institute on Aging (NIA), Intramural Research Program, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Selections will also be made with the Laboratory of Neurogenetics (LNG) and the Center for Alzheimer's and Related Dementias (CARD), National Institute on Aging (NIA), Intramural Research Program, National Institutes of Health (NIH), DHHS

Duties

If you are selected for this position, you will perform the following duties: Maintain data in local databases and prepares reports. Initiate and respond to email, telephone, and letter inquiries and provide requested materials. Use software functions to produce a wide range of documents that require complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update or revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Apply various software for data retrieval in various databases and assists in coordinating and assembling data to respond to inquiries from senior management through the use of software applications. Monitor and acquire office supplies for the workplace, ensures adequate stock of all purchases, and reorders supplies as appropriate. Monitor the use and rate of expenditures of select items in program budgets. Arrange travel for staff members, including scheduling transportation, arranging hotel accommodations; keeping in touch with staff enroute; and preparing travel vouchers, travel orders, and requests for travel advances. Serve as a timekeeper and reconciles and maintains current records to assure accuracy, up-to-date record keeping and accountability in the event of an audit. If you are selected at the GS-5 or GS-6 level, you will essentially perform the same duties as those at the full performance level described above, however, duties are less complex and will be performed under closer supervision with more detailed guidance.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-05 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: A) Completed 4 years of education above high school. OR B) You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:1) Maintaining filing systems for personnel packages, charts, and documents; 2) Managing office supplies and equipment by preparing requests for purchases/repairs; 3) Applying various software applications such as excel, outlook calendar, time and attendance scheduling systems and/or agency web-based business systems such as NBS (NIH Business System) that covers accounting/budget, travel, purchasing etc.; AND 4) Arranging travel for staff members, including scheduling transportation, arranging or hotel accommodations.; OR C) A combination of post high school education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. You qualify at the GS-06 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1) Preparing personnel actions for performance increases, awards, and other actions; 2) Assisting with the recruitment process, in-and-out processing of staff, or maintenance of updated reports of personnel actions in progress; 3) Tracking procurement requests and reconcile deliveries with requests; AND 4) Preparing travel vouchers, travel orders, and requests for travel advances. You qualify at the GS-07 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1) Maintaining administrative related information using spreadsheets or database software for re-occurring reports; 2) Distributing policy and guidance such as guidelines for performance appraisals to managing staff; 3) Tracking routine personnel processing issues in order to ensure problems are resolved; AND 4) Serving as the point of contact for all travel arrangements to include scheduling transportation, lodging, and conferences. AND Additional Qualification: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
