About the Position: This position is located at TACOM, Fleet Management Expansion at Ft Leonard Wood. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Operate a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment. Operate a fork lift to load and unload materials. Receive, unload, and process incoming shipments manually, by handcarts and other non-mechanized conveyances, or by operation of material handling equipment (MHE). Select proper storage locations for items; assemble items into groups based on information shown on receiving documentation. Report overages, shortages, or damage conditions to higher-grade employee. Select items for shipment or issue by comparing identifying information on documents with stock tags or box markings.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid state driver’s license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical examination to meet the physical efforts requirements of this position. An annual physical or medical surveillance examination may be required.
  • Position requires employee to wear protective clothing and equipment.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R for Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 10% of the duty time.
  • This position may require heavy lifting up to 50 LBS

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MATERIALS HANDLER (Motor Vehicle Operator/Fork Lift Operator)~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator/ Forklift Operator) duties independently performing a wide range of warehousing and storage duties. I can: 1) Checking stock identification changes to ensure that proper items are selected and assembled for issue; 2) Operating a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment;3) Operating a fork lift to load and unload materials; and 4) Operating gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles such as cargo van, pick-up, flat bed or stake body trucks. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision PHYSICAL EFFORT: 1. Work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time; bending, stooping, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others. 2. Light physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls of motor vehicles. Moderate physical effort is exerted in operating, turning, backing and controlling heavier vehicles. 3. Fork lift operating requires moderate physical effort in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the fork lift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved. Strain is caused by the vibration of the fork lift truck. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Performs assignments indoors in both comfortable and uncomfortable areas, and outdoors in all weather conditions. Work areas maybe hot, dirty, dusty, drafty, inadequately lighted and ventilated, etc. Is subject to cuts, abrasions, injuries from equipment, or the possibility of serious injury resulting from accidents while driving and/or loading and unloading materials. 2. Drives in all types of traffic and weather on public roads, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. 3. The fork lift operator normally works outside in all kinds of weather and at times works inside in areas that are cold, damp, and drafty. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from shifting loads, toppling stacks, fork lift trucks overturning, falling objects, or accidents with other moving equipment.
