About the Position: This position is located at the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistic Readiness Center, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Duties

Performs a full range of munitions Materials Handler duties involving the receipt, storage, issue and shipping of ammunition, ammunitions components, powders, explosives (including chemical), residue brass, excess and unserviceable stock. Issues munitions according to requisitions, ensuring first selection of older and smaller lots of stocks. Directs and helps in loading and unloading trucks, keeping requisitions separate for convenience and safety and assuring compatibility. Stores munitions in accordance with plans and graphs to conform to quantity distance, compatibility tables and safety regulations. Checks for obvious damage to items and initiates corrective action pertaining to discrepancies. Operates 1/2-to-5-ton vehicles to and from work site to haul munitions to and from rail siding, airport, ranges and storage sites.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work shift work, irregular tour of duty, overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • This position may require the incumbent to be recalled to duty from scheduled time off.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime on an on-call status.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be subject to screening and evaluation using Department of Army Form 7708, Personnel Reliability Screening and Evaluation, in accordance with Army Regulation 190-11.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass and maintain forklift-certification and driving test within agency mandated time frames.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Working Conditions: Works continuously in, out and between magazines in all kinds of weather. Magazines are unheated. Frequently exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, etc.
