About the Position: This position is within the DIR of RM Logistics Equipment Management department located at Broke Army Medical Center, San Antonio TX.

Duties

Evaluate and install complex medical equipment or systems to include standalone equipment or components that contain integrated circuitry or microprocessors. Advise on special projects involving the installation, service and repair of highly complex medical equipment and systems. Integrate medical system equipment into respective Environment of Care such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography scanners, and radiographic-fluoroscopic x-ray systems. Ensure adequacy of equipment networking or LAN integration for assigned functional area to include compatibility with existing utilities and existing equipment/components. Sets up and installs new medical PCE systems. Inspects services performed on-site by commercial vendors for acceptable work performed in light of contract and original manufacturer's specifications before payment is made for services. Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
