Air Traffic Operations (AJT) controls more than 5 million square miles of airspace in the U.S. and more than 24 million square miles over oceans. AJT is responsible for Airport Traffic Control Towers (Federal and Contract), Terminal Radar Approach Control facilities, Air Route Traffic Control Centers, and Combined Center Radar Approach Control facilities to guide aircraft through their various phases of flight.
Duties
Serves as a recognized expert and Senior Advisor reporting to the Vice President (VP) for Air Traffic Services, often called upon to provide leadership for highly complex and challenging activities. Acts as a focal point for monitoring multiple activities and programs for the VP. Provides advice and guidance to the VP. Applies experience and expert knowledge in a variety of technical disciplines including air traffic control operations, facility management, and engineering to resolve highly complex issues and unique problems that significantly impact air traffic management and the separation and control of aircraft in the en route environment and in and out of airports across the country through airport traffic control towers and Terminal Radar Approach Control Facilities (TRACON). Identifies and resolves highly complex problems that are elevated to the VP's attention and that significantly impact operations in the NAS.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-J, FG/GS-14 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience analyzing proposed policies and programs related to the changes to National Airspace System including analyzing impact of technical changes on agency policies and workforce.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Interview Policy: Some, all or none of the applicants may be interviewed.Pay Retention:Your base salary will not change as you are entitled to retain your current salary under the provisions of FAA’s HRMP EMP 1.29a, Career Progression Program. Upon acceptance of this position you will no longer be entitled to “good time” credit for retirement purposes. Your annual pay increase will be paid as lump sum payments until your pay retention terminates. Pay retention will terminate upon acceptance of another position unless that position offers pay retention as well.
