About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Develop policy and procedures for local implementation of the Department of Defense (DoD) Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy regulations requirements. Advise hospital personnel of appropriate procedures for releasing information. Respond to complaints of possible and alleged privacy violations received internally and from external sources. Monitor advancements of emerging privacy technologies to ensure that staff is positioned to adapt and comply with these advancements. Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring activities. Oversee, direct, and ensure delivery of privacy training and orientation to all employees, volunteers, clinical staff, business associates, and other appropriate third parties.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing correspondence such as memorandums or letters; briefing audience on policy and/or procedural requirements; and safeguarding protected patient information in accordance with local policy and/or law. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
