Duties

Establish and maintain a Practitioner Credentials File (PCF) for each physician and Allied Healthcare Provider (AHCP) assigned/contracted to BACH. Obtain approval of the application from the Deputy Commander for Clinical Services (DCCS). Present the completed application for privileges to the Credentials Committee for approval, and to the hospital Commander for final approval. Serve an authoritative source and assistant to the Chairperson of Credentials Committee and Quality Manager on the clinical privileging requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures for the Provider Credentials/Privileging Program. Research and abstract active and inactive provider files in response to a variety of requests for information on providers privileged by this facility.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If management selects the position at the GS-06 grade level the incumbent maybe non-competitively be promoted to the target grade GS-07. GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical or administrative support duties, utilizing an automated system performing one or more of the following: managing calendars, inputting or retrieving documents, preparing correspondence, creating or maintaining files, preparing reports or graphic slides and scheduling appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organization Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the credentialing program for health care providers, performing one or more of the following duties: retrieving medical reports, reviewing medical policies and procedures, verifying providers received are valid, maintaining credential files for review and ensuring providers maintain the certifications that are required. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organization Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
