About the Position: Performs a variety of technical and administrative work in support of the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) Engineering Division which is responsible for providing inspection of the professional and technical engineering aspects of all construction contracts for which DPW is responsible.
Duties
Perform work related to the practical and technical aspects of office administration including issues related to budgeting, project tracking and files management.
Substantial coordination with customers for establishment of requirements and frequencies, and appropriate funding activities for establishment of available budgets.
Perform General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) Contract Management functions and routine forms preparation, projects, update project status, upload documents, for engineering projects.
Routinely coordinates with other Alaska organizations on technical matters relating to the contracts and services developed/executed by the Engineering Division.
Receive and reviews incoming correspondence, requests, and inquires. Promptly respond once desired information/data have been compiled.
Compose written correspondence from a short phrase/idea, verbal instruction or rough note. Correspondence is prepared in accordance with applicable regulations and guidance.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of computer database(s) on all projects executed by the Engineering Division from receipt to completion.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 5% of the time.
- Requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM).

Specialized Experience GS-7: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a wide variety of administrative assignments such as but not limited to, reviewing correspondence, creating graphs and spreadsheets, collecting data for operating budgets, and maintaining files for construction projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06.
