The positions are located in the OCFO, National Finance Center, Government Employees Services Division, Mainframe Applications Directorate, Personnel Applications Systems Branch, New Orleans, LA.
The incumbent in this position provides application programming support for new, redesigned, or Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) software, resolving software application problems in compliance with established automatic data processing (ADP) standards, policies, and authorized application approaches.
Duties
Utilizing software development tools, e.g. COBOL, OLAP, DB2, Oracle, MS SQL.
Assisting with the design, development, testing, and implementation of new or modified applications software.
Implementing and supporting IT security applications.
Gathering and analyzing basic facts in order to draw conclusions.

Qualifications
Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in Federal Service or equivalent experience in private or public sector that has equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform as an IT Specialist (APPSW). Examples of such experience include: Applying applications software development principles and methods, and utilizing commonly used software development tools such as query languages, Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL), Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) tools or relational data base syntax (DB2, Oracle, MS SQL Server); AND IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies.

Education
Education can be substituted for experience: 1 full year of graduate level education OR Superior academic achievement (S.A.A.). Combination of Education and Experience may be substituted for experience in the following: You may combine education and experience to meet the specialized experience requirement. It must total at least 100 percent. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Only education above a bachelor's degree is creditable towards meeting the requirement at the GS-07 grade level.)
