The Program Support Assistant position is located in the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, in Tampa, FL. The incumbent performs a variety of clerical, administrative and technical duties/responsibilities in direct support of the VA Non-Institutional Care(NIC) Programs which include the Homemaker/Home Health Aide, In-Home Respite, Veterans Directed Home Care, and other NIC Programs in the future.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
Collects and analyzes information about the ADP program's impact on workload of day to day operations and recommends(verbally and in writing) adjustments as needed for implementation of new programs, solutions to problems, etc.
Works with IMS in installing, maintaining, upgrading this software and testing patches.
Serves as service reference point for troubleshooting/maintaining personal computer hardware and software for new and existing SWS employees throughout the hospital, and off-site locations such as Mental Health Clinic, PRRC, and Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program.
Reviews problems reports with regard to SWS programs to determine what action is necessary to correct the problem(s).
Review service employee menu options to ensure access is limited to job responsibilities and and maintained commensurate with changing job responsibilities.
Utilizes VISTA and other personal computer packages to provide management with clear, concise ad-hoc reports, summaries and presentations in a visually effective manner.
Prepares monthly reports for Social Work Section Chief, Geriatrics and Extended Care on budgets and performance measure criteria.
Participates in quality management, performance improvement and strategic planning of Social Work Service.
Responsible for day to day management of over $3 million to support Non Institutional Care Programs for this hospital.
Responsible for maintaining all provider agreements established between the VA and community home health agencies and assists the Social Work Section Chief to ensure that they are up to date.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/15/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Makes travel arrangements, prepares and submits travel documents for staff members.
Performs timekeeping duties for the service.
Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.
Schedules meetings, transcribes minutes, gathers reports, and tracks actions for committees.
Utilizes a computer and applications to extract pertinent data and prepare a variety of reports.

Physical Requirements: Work is generally sedentary, although some physical effort may be required. Sitting, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, and carrying light loads of supplies. A great deal of time is spent at the computer. Incumbent must be able to manage multiple activities at one time projecting a work setting that is running smoothly and effectively.
