The selectee of this position serves as a Human Resources Assistant responsible for providing technical support and assistance to the Human Resources Specialists.. This position is located in the Human Resources Division/Arlington, VA.

Duties

As a Human Resources Assistant at the GS-0203-7 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following: Processing the full range of personnel actions to include appointments, separations, promotions, changes to lower grade, reassignments, transfers, etc., utilizing various automated Human Resources Information Systems. Reviewing personnel action requests (SF-52's) for accuracy, existence and adequacy of supporting documents, etc. Providing guidance and interpretation to employees and management regarding human resources policies and procedures. Conducting new employee orientation. Assisting Human Resources Specialists with special projects/reports. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable determination of suitability for a Public Trust position.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial/probationary period.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Status Candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) Status applicants must provide an SF50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF50 must include the position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. One year at the GS-6 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the education and/or experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply. To qualify at the GS-7 grade level, you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Providing administrative support and technical assistance in human resources functions of recruitment and staffing and pay administration (i.e. setting pay, coding personnel actions); Preparing and examining personnel action requests (i.e. SF-52s) for completeness and adherence to procedural, and regulatory requirements as appropriate; completes SF-52 based on action being taken; Creating, updating, and editing a wide range of HR documents and reports; and Providing administrative support services for an office.
