You will serve as a Human Resources Specialist (Classification) in the Classification/Staffing Advisory Branch of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will provide managers and employees with specific, directly applicable information on the organization's classification procedures, practices, policies, and guidelines, including assistance with automated Human Resource systems tools You will review classification actions and provides recommendations on routine issues, such as the use of standard position descriptions, routine descriptions of duties, and available alternatives to customized work descriptions. You will classify professional, specialist, journeyman trades, and/or administrative positions including supervisory jobs. You will provide classification advisory services for positions in multiple pay systems. You will resolve problems of more than average difficulty regarding hard-to-find and one-of-a-kind positions. You will interpret, analyze and apply classification standards and guides to the creation of position descriptions. You will provide in depth research and analysis on hazard and pay differentials for applicable positions. You will perform a wide range of classification duties including: creating, revising, reevaluating, and abolishing of Position Descriptions. You will provide responses to appeals and grievances.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following duties: 1) Providing position management or classification advisory services to assigned organizations under various personnel systems (e.g. General Schedule, Federal Wage System, etc.); 2) Reviewing position descriptions while utilizing and analyzing classification standards and guides to create, revise, reevaluate, or abolish position descriptions; 3) Researching and providing guidance on a variety of complex Classification services (FLSA, Hazard Pay, Environmental Differential Pay etc.); and 4) Preparing responses to appeals and grievances. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
