About the Position: Serves as the education coordinator for the Preventive Medicine Branch section and training instructor for the Principles of Military Preventive Medicine Course (CORE, Clinical Track, and PMOPS), Infection Control in the Deployed Environment Course, and the Sexually Transmitted Disease Intervention Course and other specialized courses as assigned in support of the Preventive Medicine Branch and Division of Public Health Services.
Duties
Coordinates course materials and presents lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises in Public Health to provide knowledge and skills essential for Army Medical Department Officers.
Serve as the Administrator and Nurse Planner for Continuing Health Education (CHE) credit for all Preventive Medicine Branch courses which include Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) units.
Collaborates with both civilian and military subject matter experts in Public Health, Infectious Disease, Laboratory Science, and Infection Control to develop and maintain current training programs and courses.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the design, implementation, facilitation, collaboration, coordination, and administration of graduate level Public Health courses to seasoned Public Health Officers; developing current and relevant continuing education credit for courses; determining material, special equipment, and facility requirements for courses; researching current scientific literature to ensure that all instructional materials are up to date and accurate.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, education, instructional design, or training and development.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
