Duties
You will be responsible for the certification and recertification of Cherry Points ranges and training areas (RTA).
You will provide oversight of the Installation Range Safety Program to include Range Officer in Charge (ROIC) and Range Safety Officer (RSO) certifications program.
You will monitor the effectiveness and execution of the RTA inspection program.
You will collect and track unit RSO/ROIC appointment documentation.
You will provide required weekly and on-call safety briefs.
You will be responsible for Cherry Points Laser Safety Program and laser range certification program.
You will support the Technical Laser Safety Officer (TLSO) in the management of the Range Laser Safety Program by validating Laser Safety Review Board letters for system use on Cherry Point ranges and Special Use Airspace.
Requirements

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing and updating authorized ordnance lists, weapon systems, safety data, employment parameters, survey data for firing points, current maps with ranges and training areas impact area boundaries, ground hazards and an in depth library of all supporting ranges and training areas documentation AND providing oversight of an Installation Range Safety Program.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
