The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Cyber Operations Maintenance specialist responsible for testing, modifying, upgrading, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of tools/databases with the responsibility to provide tactically flexible, persistent cybersecurity, and internal defensive measures for key terrain in cyberspace.
Duties
DUTY 1: Performs services as a senior Cyber systems administrator: Plans, coordinates, and installs MDT-TK software and hardware for Cyber operating systems.
DUTY 2: Provides technical guidance and instruction to Cyber specialists. Prepares, coordinates, and implements policy and procedures for cyber hardware and software applications system operation.
DUTY 3: Serves as a senior Cyber technical advisor to management. Participates as a key member and advisor on special committees and special projects designed to study methods to enhance the use of cyber technology throughout the installation.
DUTY 4: Ensures postured, empowered, and equipped on MDT-TK Weapons System. Performs equipment maintenance within organic capability that requires configuration updates and routine upgrades to maintain effectiveness and to mitigate vulnerabilities associated with MDT-TK.
DUTY 5: Participates in discussions, meetings, teams, or special projects and presents briefings and prepares recommendations and reports. Presents clear, concise, and well-structured oral presentations that address the designated issues.

- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
- Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
- A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
- This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A). There are no Group Coverage Qualification Standards for this series. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes ???????demonstration in applying knowledge of information technology and cybersecurity principles, methods, and practices for integrating weapon system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer weapon systems, and optimize system performance. This includes demonstration of the methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
Note: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the information technology and cybersecurity principles, methods, and practices for integrating weapon system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer weapon systems, and optimize system performance.
Knowledge of the latest advancements in technology to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system.
Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions.
Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.
Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state-of-the-art technology.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
