THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Airman And Family Readiness Specialist (Title 32) (Indefinite), Position Description Number D2419000 and is part of the VA 192 FTR WG, National Guard.

Duties

As an Airman and Family Readiness Specialist (Title 32), GS-0301-09, you will perform the below duties: 1. Assists the Air National Guard Wing leadership in the development and implementation of a family readiness and support program to include Personal and Family Life Education services, Airman and Family Readiness Deployment Support, Personal Financial Readiness services, Employment Assistance, Military Child/Youth Program and Education, Transition Assistance Program Title 32 and 10 funding, Wounded, Ill, and Injured Warrior/member and or family member, Disaster Preparedness - EFAC/AFPAAS, Relocation Assistance Program, Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), Community Outreach and Cooperative Interface, Voting Assistance Program, and Educates on Survivor Benefit Plan at the unit level and provides family readiness assistance at the GSUs. Provides advice and assistance to the unit leadership in identifying and addressing family issues and demographic trends, which impact mission readiness and retention. Identifies Wing family needs and concerns and presents appropriate plans, and recommendations to facilitate family readiness and support decisions. Ensures all recommendations are in accordance with applicable guidelines, policies, and regulations. 2.Provides plans for an efficient resource management program and maximum support of service delivery to include resource center (discovery center), equipment, funding, tracking, and computerized systems - AFFIRST, etc. Plans include supported projections of long-term family readiness and support plans and resource needs to wing level trends and directives. Analyzes Wing/GSU family readiness and support budget functions and provide recommendations to resolve existing or forecasted shortages. Provides advice and assistance to accommodate family needs during full or partial unit mobilizations and to alleviate concern of unit members about family welfare in the event of mobilization. Provides full services during full or partial federal or state mobilizations, call-ups, and/or military support missions. Provides plans that maximize readiness and support resources for unit family member assistance during day-to-day operations and especially for Aerospace Expeditionary Force (AEF) deployments and full or partial unit mobilizations. Assesses, identifies, and determines Wing/GSU family issues, trends, needs, program priorities, and program effectiveness through utilization of appropriate research methods and resources. Analyzes ongoing family Wing/GSU services evaluation program and provides recommendations to resolve problems of overlap, duplication or conflict and to ensure effective goals and objectives are accomplished. 3.Identifies service member and family issues that require exploration, development, and resolutions, and determines appropriate methods and resources. Assess customer interactions and documents all service related customer and community activities in AFFIRST. Uses formal and informal needs assessment to ensure long term proactive/reactive programs are available. Analyzes ongoing family Wing/GSU services evaluation program and provides recommendations to resolve problems of overlap, duplication, or conflict and to ensure effective goals and objectives are accomplished. Mandated to use AFFIRST to report all metrics to include volunteer coordination, training, and documenting volunteer hours. Products developed through analyses and assessments are used to support and sustain ANG Family Readiness and support to National Guard Bureau, US Air Force MAJCOM Family Matter, and Office of Secretary of Defense taskers. 4.Coordinates information for seminars, conferences, and orientation workshops as appropriate for family members and volunteers. Conducts briefings and training for family members and volunteers. Attends conferences, workshops, and meetings on quality of life, family readiness, transition, and other support issues for purpose of receiving information as directed. Attends staff meetings as required or at least monthly to report on family readiness and support program status and concerns, as well as special upcoming programs and events. Maintains adequate records and databases to administer the family program and to provide the necessary reports to the Mission Support Group (MSG) Commander/Human Resource Officer (Director of Personnel (DP)) and SFPD. Provides a quarterly report on expenditures to the Wing MSF Commander/DP and forwards to SFPD after the end of each quarter, as directed. Develops monthly or quarterly unit Family Readiness newsletters and solicits articles for the wing, state, and national family newsletters. Develops flyers for all unit related family events and maintains the unit family website. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member Enlisted Member (E-3/A1C - E-7/MSgt), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E-3/A1C - E-7/MSgt) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience serving in the capacity as a family readiness representative or providing support services to service members and/or their families. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience providing advice or assistance to unit leadership in identifying and addressing family issues and demographic trends that impact mission readiness and retention. Experience providing plans for an efficient resource management program to ensure maximum support of service delivery to include resource center, equipment, funding, tracking, and computerized systems. Experience identifying service member and family issues that require exploration, development, and resolutions, and experience determining appropriate methods and resources. Experience with information for seminars, conferences, and orientation workshops as appropriate for family members and volunteers.
