Duties

Serves as a Virtualization Administrator with responsibilities over the research, design, selection, administration, integration and sustainment of the enterprise VMware ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V and Cloud environments including the management of (contd) VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V Hypervisor hardware. Provides VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V administration with responsibility for the installation, configuration, tuning, maintenance scheduling (operating system patches, firmware/microcode upgrades, hardware additions, etc.), (contd) information assurance compliance, fault detection and incident resolution for assigned servers. Serves as technical authority and provides support for the On Premises and Cloud Virtual resources. Ensures all changes to production products follow IT Change Management processes and procedures. Enforces the process of the Defense Logistics Agency system development life cycle and utilizes the appropriate tools to ensure that projects are successfully delivered. Serves as a technical Point of Contact while participating in business driven, cross functional project teams in ensuring that correct technical resources are available, (contd) and that short term technical resources and long-term technical support processes are considered into design, implementation and training plans.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Provides technical leadership on projects, to include; scope management, business analysis, technical review, design, test and implementation, and quality assurance, on time and within budget. Analyzes specifications and requirements to ensure completeness, as well as, functional and technical feasibility. Oversees and reports on the status of assignments and projects delegated to subordinate project members and contracted resources. Conducts security validation activities of SAN, Backup, Archive, and ESX products to include but not limited to Security Readiness Review (SRR) scans and manual checks of each of the security controls using Security Technical Implementation Guides. Tests continuity of operation (COOP) for applicable server and storage infrastructure. B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed: 1. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternative, and to make recommendations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
