Duties
Researches and develops methods and approaches to develop and review/revise complete training products.
As project leader is accountable for the quality and quantity of assisted projects assuring efficient and economical work operations.
Directs or develops training material and publications, to include Tasks, Lesson Plans, Training Support Packages, Course Management Plans, Individual Training Plans.
Coordinates with other training specialists, instructional systems specialists, in-house subject matter experts, editors, visual information specialists, etc., to ensure a quality finished project.
Performs liaison and coordination tasks: Coordinates with a variety of military and civilian subject matter experts, analysts, and instructional systems specialists.
Based on research and guidance, provides technical assistance to other COE and School action officers, MACOMs field units, and institutional training units in the development and review of Civil Affairs training materials and actions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- May be required to travel TDY up to 5%.
- Observations at field training sites are conducted in all types of weather and both daylight and darkness. Some training sites are unimproved with no flush toilets available.
- Work may necessitate incumbent to wear clothes appropriate for field training.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes developing training materials and publications; Recommending changes to training support concepts; Evaluating multiple units and sub-units to define training discrepancies; Managing training research.; and Preparing writing lessons, plans, orders or other military documents with an awareness of the Civil Affairs (CA) Career Management Field (CMF). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
