You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will provide technical engineering assistance for ship Diesel Engine systems or subsystem repair or overhaul projects. You will direct diesel engine test programs and evaluations of repairs required in situations of major damage or deterioration. You will perform analysis and special studies for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures or materials for assigned systems. You will perform functional checkout, grooming, adjustment and test of new or modernized Diesel Engine Systems in an operational evaluation environment. You will evaluate ship repair/overhaul or test and grooming problems to diagnose and correct deficiencies.

Requirements

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sectorproviding technical engineering services involving the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of mechanical systems on weight handling equipment, material handling and rigging equipment used to support shipyard operations.
