Duties
You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING DIVISION (CODE 105.3), RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE, PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD, KITTERY, ME
You will perform radiological control requirements for assignments involving processes in high skill level trades such as pipefitting, welding, machining and rigging, etc.
You will improvise plans, procedures, or equipment set-ups to meet unusual, occasionally recurring needs.
You will take charge of response to radiation related emergencies and incidents.
You will investigate deficiencies or accidents which were not fully resolved by lower grade technicians.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience serving as a Radiological Control Technician protecting shipyard employees through prevention and control of nuclear incidents
Experience monitoring work and testing procedures of high skill level trades in dry run, planning, practice or mock-up sessions.
Experience performing a) radiological principles, theories, techniques, methodologies, requirements, and procedures, b) trade work techniques and procedures, and c) the function, nomenclature, location, and physical structure of Naval Nuclear Propulsion systems and their support systems to assure radiological safety requirements are met.
Experience reviewing all radioactivity control related plans and procedures.
Experience evaluating various incidents and assume full control during radiation-related incidents to prevent and control incidents by determining, directing, and controlling activities of all personnel.
Experience reviewing all radioactivity control related plans and procedures.
Experience reviewing and appraising special work or projects, adapting portions of training or material to accommodate local needs and analysis of the complex problems, deficiencies, and cause of incidents that could not be fully resolved by lower grade technicians.
