You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) in Code 980 Prod. Facility/Equip. Mgmt. Division, Production Resources Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will research and analyze data for recurring and special reports.
You will prepare statistical reports.
You will prepare visit requests and will receive phone calls and visitors to the Shop.
You will compose/type and review all correspondence.
You will arrange meetings, teleconferences and conferences.
You will maintain office inventory.
You will prepare travel order requests for employees.
You will file paperwork on disciplinary actions and grievances.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-05 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience resolving discrepancies based on interpretation of applicable regulations and procedures.
Experience applying security regulations, including handling classified information.
Experience consolidating and verifying a wide variety of divisional and budgetary data.
Experience preparing and tracking travel orders and travel claims.
To qualify for the GS-04 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrate the following:
Experience preparing reports, charts, graphs, and handouts.
Experience maintaining office inventory and office records.
Experience arranging meetings, teleconferences and conferences.
Experience reading incoming correspondence, regulations, and directives.

Education
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: (IF APPLICABLE) Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
- GS-05: 4 years education above high school level.
- GS-04: 2 years education above high school level.
