You will serve as a SENIOR SUBMARINE COMMAND TACTICAL ADVISOR of theCENTER FOR SUBMARINE.

Duties

You will responsible for the day-to-day execution and supervision of all shore-based tactical training. You will monitor and exercise supervisory control over the training provided by the Tactics department personnel, ensuring high standards, realistic scenarios and adherence to Submarine Force tactical guidance and training requirements. You will oversee planning and execution of shore-based responsive training, pre-deployment training and periodic assessments of submarines. You will provide review of submarine tactics training products, lectures and curricula. You will conduct periodic visits to learning sites to assess training quality and to provide training for submarine crews and training staff. You will attend briefs and embarks on submarines as necessary to maintain knowledge and proficiency in underway submarine operations.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The incumbent is required to embark on submarines, surface ships, and military aircraft periodically in the performance of duties.
  • Position may require overtime/weekend/holiday Work.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Collaborating with tactical trainers to improve ship-handling, tactics, and navigation training; 2) Developing solutions to submarine training issues; 3) Evaluating effectiveness of submarine training programs; and 4) Instructing personnel on submarine tactics, ship handling, and navigation.
