The primary purpose of this position is to provide medical standards guidance policy interpretation and application to United States Space Force Chief of Space Operations and USSF senior leaders, as well as local and national health care professionals and medical support staffs within the Medical Treatment Facilities supporting USSF Guardian healthcare.
Duties
Plan, organize, and implement medical standards activities for the USSF Medical Operations Directorate.
Administers quality reviews of Duty Limiting Conditions (DLC), physical examinations, profiles, for appropriate medical clearances.
Functions as the USAF/USSF Surgeon General's Space Force Medical Operations Directorate key focal point and functional expert for the analysis, interpretation, and application of medical standards to include waiver actions.
Represents USSF medical standards with a variety of Field Command, Space Base Delta installation and functional area organizations.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Health System Administration Series 0671.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At this level, applicants would have obtained this experience working within a health care setting providing leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of medical standards; ensuring a standardized and effective approach to policy interpretation, compliance standards, processes, and resources; and experience using complex analytical problem-solving methods, principles, and theories to identify extensive program data and conduct a variety of studies and reviews. Establishing program goals and objectives and identifies results indicative of successful program accomplishments; Preparing and presenting study reports and findings that include substantive and innovative recommendations to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the medical standards program.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of established medical principles, practices, requirements, procedures and regulations and their application in a military health care setting primarily for active-duty members as they relate to the specialized practice of Aerospace Medicine as it pertains to USSF and space operations, launch operations, and training/readiness operations.
2. Knowledge of overall medical service and individual MTF organization, management, mission, purpose, programs, related requirements in various administrative areas, philosophy, and objectives on a practical level, as well as an understanding of The Joint Commission, AAAHC, Health Services Inspection standards, and DoD instructions.
3. Knowledge in the area of analyzing, evaluating, interpreting, and applying medical standards to general military population, space operators, aviators, missileers, and other special operational duty personnel, as well as the different functions and motivations of various employees and groups involved.
4. Skill in use of military medical computer software such as MHS Genesis, Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), ASIMS, AIMWTS, and PEPP.
5. Ability to provide and coordinate detailed consultation services and advice to, and gather information from, health care professionals, paraprofessional personnel, and non-medical personnel.
6. Ability to analyze, evaluate, reconcile contradictory requirements in, and draw conclusions from, multiple sources of medical and technical information.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
