About the Position: This position serves as a Terrain Analyst within the National Simulation Center (NSC), Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Duties
As a Terrain Analyst, you will perform the following duties:
Execute training support and developmental work for Terrain Development and Support for Training Exercises and Military Operations (TEMO).
Analyzes requirements for terrain products, and outside tasking/issues related to the integration of Terrain Development support for Constructive Simulations and Battle Command Systems.
Synchronizing requirements for development of terrain database generation systems and addressing issues that pertain to terrain databases that affect the entire spectrum of current and future Constructive Simulations and Mission Command Systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- There is Temporary Duty (TDY) travel of up to 25%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) software to
generate new and modify existing terrain database systems; 2) designing, developing and integrating of digital terrain databases using existing digital terrain generation tools for constructive simulations; AND 3) testing terrain generation, analyzing and training/exercise support activities.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field
which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the
computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
NOTE: Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
