You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MATERIALS) in the NUCLEAR ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT (CODE 2300) of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will act as a representative for the C/2305 Nuclear Material Division in assigned areas of responsibility for nuclear material and material management matters.
You will contact planning yards, prime contractors, NAVSEA, NAVSUP or other authorities.
You will assist the cognizant engineer with the material request and prepare material ordering documents. including sole source documentation, procurement clause forms, and information sheets.
You will provide technical support for specific material programs operated by the Shipyard.
You will assist in identifying and resolving nuclear material problems related to procurement and technical receipt inspection.
You will research and review source documents, engineering drawings, databases, instructions, regulations and other technical information.
You will assist in the investigation and resolution of deficiencies concerned with the acquisition of nuclear material.
You will perform liaison functions within and outside the Shipyard related to material technical specifications, sourcing, availability, status, etc.
You will be responsible for reporting problems in assigned projects, organizations, and functions to managers/supervisors to assure the supervisor has timely knowledge of emergent problems/trends.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and interpreting technical engineering work documents to assist in identifying nuclear material and resolving nuclear material deficiencies in support of ship or submarine repair or conversion projects.
