You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT/HAZARDOUS MATERIAL TECH) in the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Emergency Services-Portsmouth Naval Shipyard of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY PORTSMOUTH NSY.

Duties

You will perform hazard and risk assessment and conduct complete incident analysis. You will perform Advanced life support duties. You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities that may include research and/or large industrial complexes. You will drive and operate firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Support Equipment.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles; 6)Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures; and 7) Performing work at airfields handling aircraft carrying large volumes of fuel, sometimes nuclear weapons or highly flammable or explosive cargo. **NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.
