Duties

Major Duties of the Position: This position serves as the Associate Dean, Human Capital Management and performs faculty duties within the Dean of Faculty (DF) organization, United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). Serves as the senior advisor to the Dean of Faculty (provost) and as a senior institutional leader on faculty development and policy matters. Member leads a 14-person staff agency and executes a $2.5M annual budget as they direct the Human Capital Management office. Directs a broad range of faculty development and human capital services to the 800-person Academy faculty. Directs DF's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and supervises CETL faculty that include the Directors of Assessment, Curriculum Design, Faculty Development, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Serves as the Academy liaison to teaching and learning centers at other universities and colleges, and to national educational associations. Supervises the Director of Faculty Operations (DFOO) and provides strategic direction for eight personnel in DFOO who create and implement faculty policies, facilitate the hiring of DF faculty and staff, and direct the Visiting Professor and volunteer faculty programs. Participates in undergraduate education in DF, performs assigned duties, and participates in course and curriculum development.

  • The salary shown is the minimum (Annual) amount to be paid and may be set higher commensurate with individual's qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal degree in a relevant discipline and 10 years of applicable professional experience required. ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES: N/A DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 6 years of experience desired in one or more of the following: directing excellence in teaching and learning activities; or directing assessment, curriculum design, faculty development, or SOTL research activities; or leading human capital/relations management activities; or equivalent experience in higher education administration. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements.
