About the Position: Serves as a Data Scientist and technical expert responsible for the application of operations reach and advanced data, U.S. Army Materials Command G-8 Financial Operations.
Duties
Coordinate specific data mining and analysis, advanced modeling and development of mathematical algorithms.
Identify data that should be collected and devises methods of instrumenting the agency's systems to extract raw data.
Prepare presentations, writes reports and builds data visualization products.
Participate in meetings, conferences, briefing and seminars related to data analytics program planning.
Recommend data collection, integration, and retention requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.
- This position requires a Secret clearance.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements:A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE UPLOADED, or you may not be eligible for referring to the hiring manager.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
In addition to the BASIC Requirement:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade which includes: 1) Perform a wide range of complex analytical, mathematical, and statistical research that inform operational requirements and provide options on how to best implement data driven solutions. 2) Provide analysis, produce data analysis leveraging data science methodologies and applies modeling techniques and procedures.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
