This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain DoD Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an Operations Research and Systems Analyst applying state-of-the-art programming, data management, data science, and analytic techniques to Army problems in support of senior-level decision.

Duties

Perform a broad range of analyses entailing unique problems, creativity, and innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches and/or new technologies. Apply knowledge of programming languages (e.g., VBA, R, Python) and database management (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Access). Support data collection, data management, data science, and analysis. Ensure that efforts are properly directed and assumes overall technical responsibility for the interpretation and presentation of findings and conclusions to experts in operations research and outside of the operations research community.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Education: A bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) And Experience: One-year specialized experience equivalent to GS 12 grade level in the federal service which includes; applying advanced actuarial science, operations research, mathematics, and statistics to serve as a consultant and technical advisor; analyzing research techniques to complete assignments that involve major developmental studies; utilize cloud hosted architectures; models, and database management techniques in response to evolving issues and complex challenges.
