You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Advanced Training Command (ATC) of NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE CTR CORONADO.

Duties

You will provide “In Air” instruction of U.S. Special Operations Forces in MFF Parachuting Operations. You will be a primary classroom instructor for the Navy Parachute Course for up to 60 students in a classroom instruction. You will compile information from manuals, regulations, and technical bulletins, prepares course outlines and student handouts. You will provide Pre-Jump briefing to include the classroom portion and ensure that students fully understand what is expected of them during parachute training evolutions. You will provide Post-Jump critiques and evaluation of student’s performance following the guidance of the Course Supervisor and/or Lead Instructor. You will serve as Primary Jump Masters (PJM), AOT/E, canopy coach, DZSO, and High-Risk training instructor. You will perform Parachute operations while wearing a video or still camera to enhance post-jump critiques of student performances. You will control all aspects of Air Operations. Maintain communications with multiple aircraft, Range Control personnel, emergency response teams, instructors and students.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to travel away from the normal duty station. NPC travel will be up to 154 days per year with 14 days additional for Air conferences and or JSAT participation.
  • You will be required to pass a Navy Jump physical after appointment to position, in accordance with Army Regulations 40-501.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain the Accelerated Free Fall Instructor (AFFI) qualification upon appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain qualification as NSW ATC high risk instructor (JIT, IQC, etc.)
  • You will be required to pass a military High-Altitude Physiological School (HAPS) training without restrictions.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain these qualifications: , Air Operations Trainer Examiner (AOT-E), MFF Jumpmaster, Military Static Line Jumpmaster, HRST/C master.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Overseeing the development, management, and delivery of full spectrum Air Operations instruction (e.g. Military Free Fall course of instruction, Static Line course of instruction, Static Line Jumpmaster (SLJM), Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques/Cast Master (HRST/C) or similar military freefall operations). Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
