Duties
Serves as the primary liaison on all travel matters (Defense Travel System (DTS) and Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC)) within the command Headquarters.
Provides formal training on travel policy, program management practices and DTS via classroom, large audience presentations, and senior officer audiences.
Provides technical assistance on matters pertaining to all aspects of the DTS, GTCC and travel for Headquarters travelers and leadership.
Conducts, assists, and reviews audits of travel records to ensure compliance with travel regulations and action is taken to resolve identified discrepancies.
Establishes and maintains program standards, identifies weaknesses and recommends and implements effective internal control requirements within the Headquarters Travel Program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to complete FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in 1) identifying travel requirements and financial management practices; 2) utilizing policies, identifying goals and objectives and interpreting information related to travel; 3) obtaining information to assist with the input to changes in policies, guidelines and/or regulations.
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
