Duties

Identify developmental, training, corrective/remedial needs of employees and provides for or arranges needed development and training. Plan course operations and provides administrative and technical supervision to assigned personnel. Develop and conduct training in residence and via Mobile Training Team (MTT) of active duty and reserve component officers and enlisted personnel to qualify them as SERE level C graduates. Supervise the training techniques and presentational styles of SERE instructors such as (military, civilian and contractor). Serve as a Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Level C instructor to train U.S. military personnel in basic and advanced techniques for Core Captivity Curriculum (CCC) for all captivity environments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires a Drug Test.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • he duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Incumbent is required to pass a psychological evaluation before entrance on duty, and periodic psychological evaluations after appointment.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete a DoD SERE Level C (Wartime) Course, unless a former Prisoner of War.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete a DoD Peacetime Government Detention (PGD) and Hostage Detention (HD) Level C course.
  • Employee must successfully complete a DoD SERE Instructor Course.
  • Employee must successfully complete Personnel Recovery 101 and 301 courses.
  • Position requires TDY travel primarily within the continental United States, and occasionally outside CONUS.
  • Work is performed in and outdoors. Incumbent may be exposed to inclement weather.

Experience in developing performance requirements and evaluating work performance of employees, advising, counseling, and instructing employees on work and administrative matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) or above. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
