Duties

As a Title 10 Faculty Member (Social Science), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Authors and teaches courses and lessons at the graduate level for the Advanced Military Studies Program, Advanced Strategic Leadership Studies Program and the PME Phase of the Advanced Strategic Planning and Policy Program. Design and develop course material plus guide student research efforts for the SAMS curriculum. Directs several graduate level research studies and assesses students' performance in an academic environment. Conducts extensive research to develop otherwise scarce or fragmented source information for use in graduate-level instruction. Presents research in narrative, analytical or other appropriate formats including professional publications, lectures, seminars, books, professional sponsored official journals, informal talks, and audio-visual programs. Advises on the acquisition of published materials for the Ike-Skelton-Combined Arms Research Library and other materials. Upon request provides critical evaluation and comment on draft doctrinal manuscripts being considered for publication. Participates with other instructors in planning and developing the curriculum, and/or in a continuing evaluation and revision of that curriculum.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Educational requirement: This position requires the incumbent to possess a Ph.D. (may be ABD) from a regionally accredited college or university in in the following Social Science branches: cognitive science, cultural anthropology, economics, human geography, international studies, political science, applied psychology (organizational, military, media, and systems), social systems and complexity theory. If you are ABD, you will be required to obtain your Doctorate degree within two (2) years from your entry-on-duty date. Failure to obtain a Doctorate degree within the required two (2) year timeframe will be cause for your removal from the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your official transcripts). -AND- Specialized Experience: At least one (1) year of specialized experience designing, developing, evaluating and conducting adult undergraduate or graduate-level classes, evaluating and revising curriculum, and directs undergraduate or graduate level research studies and evaluate student performance in an academic environment. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Deliver adult graduate level instruction/facilitation Direct student research projects Curriculum development or assessment methodologies Communicate effectively both oral and written formats Level of accredited education NOTE: This position may be filled at one of the following academic ranks: Instructor Assistant Professor Associate Professor Professor *Academic rank and salary will be determined based on the selectee's education and experience. If you are currently serving on active duty: You MUST submit a certification from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions not later than 120 days after the date the certification is submitted for consideration in the hiring process. The certification MUST show the characterization of your discharge (Honorable, General, etc.). Prior to appointment, the service member's character of service and qualifying discharge or release must be verified through a DD form 214 or equivalent documentation.
