About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, Advanced Conventional Weapons Division, Aviation Branch, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Duties

Serves as a scientific and technical intelligence analyst, performing developmental-level duties with responsibility for professional research and analysis of foreign vertical-lift aircraft, Emphasis placed on the characterization and technical/tactical performance of the aircraft/air vehicle, its subsystems, and/or any associated technologies (e.g., payload, flight control, aerodynamic, power/propulsion, etc.) Prepares finished intelligence products and portions of major projects based upon that research and analysis. Consults with supervisor or senior analyst to identify customer requirements, activity and agency mission objectives, and significant new information or trends for assigned portions of major research projects. Participates in Army and intelligence community working groups and committees, discussing analytical issues and contributing to the development of improved analytical methods and assessments in assigned specialty area. Prepares input for various types of intelligence reports on technical assessments in assigned specialty area. Recommends research direction for assigned portion of S and T mission areas based on knowledge of significant developments in subject area and current assignments. Applies established data collection, analysis, modeling and simulation, and verification approaches to deal with assigned technical problems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
