About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Duties

Serves as a Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) in the Scientific and Technical Intelligence (S and TI) Directorate. Responsible for performing all-source scientific and technical intelligence analysis on threat ground weapons systems and associated technologies, signatures and foreign materiel. Senior analyst and technical subject matter expert responsible for scientific and technical intelligence support to Army, Department of Defense, and Intelligence Community customers using a broad knowledge of the Directorate?s missions. Works with Division Chiefs and Senior Intelligence Analysts in the Directorate to plan production, ensure its focus on priority issues, identify gaps and plan collection. Responsible for the overall quality and tradecraft of the Directorate's research and analysis, and adherence to organizational and Intelligence Community tradecraft standards. Assists and advises analysts in answering the most difficult intelligence problems through the application of a wide variety of structured analytic techniques, data science, and modeling and simulation. Represents NGIC, Army, Defense and the USG at interagency and international meetings, conferences and symposia.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
