About the Position: This Position is time-limited and may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met.
Serves as Personal Assistant to the Director and Command Team performing secretarial, administrative control, and action officer duties. Performs clerical and administrative functions.
Duties
Receive all visitors and telephone calls for the executive staff.
Establish and maintain correspondence files, documents, and personnel files.
Utilize the Defense Travel System to review and/or and approve proposed and travel final travel settlements.
Use Microsoft Outlook to receive, acknowledge and reply to electronic messages.
Provide daily command status report for command and ensure all suspense dates are met.
Establish priorities, schedule appointments and meetings to resolve conflicting requests.
Review correspondence or other documents for grammatical accuracy, spelling, format, and completeness.
Prepare draft documents and routine correspondence.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background check.
- This position may be eligible for Situational/Ad-HOC Telework.
- Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following: (1) performing a variety of administrative support duties in support of a clinic or medical facility; (2) coordinating and executing new administrative processes, directions and procedures among subordinate organizations; (3) coordinating meetings, briefings, conferences and/or travel arrangements; and (4) maintaining a calendar for scheduling meetings and/or appointments.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
