You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the Ocean Engineering Department - Code 120C of PSNS and IMF. Salary Range: GS-11: $76,860 - $99.914 GS-12: $92,123 - $119,760

Duties

You will assist in assessing functions and performance of the Quality Management System (QMS). You will assist in validating deficiencies in the Quality Performance System (QPS), as well as add identified deficiencies from audits and Problem Resolution meetings. You will assist in producing deficiency metrics derived from QPS to produce reports and keep management apprised of engineering performance and trend analysis. You will assist in facilitating the department Self-Assessment Report with all divisional managers. You will enter and track open action items in the Consolidated Action Tracking System (CATS) and provide the department with action closure status. You will plan, schedule and participate in the department’s quality assurance surveillances, studies, assessments, and investigations within area of responsibility ensuring analysis supports evidence-based decision-making and process improvement. You will assist in the preparation of surveillance observations and/or findings and analysis to be presented to management. You will recommend future surveillances and improvement areas to managers based on data analysis, higher and local level requirements, and other reports of quality problems. You will facilitate the coordination and reporting of departmental quality initiatives with personnel within department.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position requires the incumbent to walk to remote locations in the industrial area and shipboard where ladders and various uneven surfaces exist. Must be able to climb a ladder.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
• Must be able to drive a government vehicle.

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating, developing, and executing quality assurance surveillances, studies, assessments and investigations by resolving deficiencies to improve processes and procedures. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and conducting quality assurance surveillances, studies, assessments and investigations to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements to processes and procedures.
