You will serve as an Intelligence Specialist (Senior Tactical Analyst and subject matter expert (SME)) in the Submarine Warfare Operations Research Division (SWORD) of NIMITZ OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE CENTER.
All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
Serves as a senior tactical analyst and subject matter expert on foreign subsurface, surface and air antisubmarine warfare, and submarine anti-surface warfare tactics, techniques, procedures within the Submarine Warfare Operations Research Division.
Plans and leads complex research and analysis projects that result in the production of finished intelligence reports, threat assessments, and studies.
Works with other ONI, community, and foreign partner analysts to perform integrated warfare analysis and production against SWORD focus countries.
Provides accurate assessments on current and future tactics of foreign submarine forces and ASW forces by incorporating expert knowledge of foreign submarines’ and ASW platforms’ technical capabilities, doctrine, and training.
Maintains extensive liaison with customers and intelligence partners.
Requirements

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
- This position requires periodic polygraph examinations.
- Some travel (domestic and overseas) required.
- May be required to work overtime, including nights and weekends, and shift work as real-world events or Navy activities (to include operations and exercises) require.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing expert knowledge of undersea warfare and its relation to national intelligence activities; 2) Instituting new projects or for redirecting already established projects in the undersea warfare intelligence program to meet Navy and national decision maker needs; 3) Utilizing expert knowledge of the undersea warfare domain such as Russian submarine operations and tactics, sensor and weapons employment, surface and air ASW operations and tactics, and target motion analysis; 4) Leading and reviewing complex studies on foreign undersea warfare topics to enable US and Navy operations; and, 5) Utilizing expert knowledge of intelligence production systems and methods, and the ability to guide and direct branch intelligence publishing.
