About the Position: This position is located within Naval Hospital Jacksonville, BLDG 2091 Directorate Resource Management office, Uniform Business Office. Working hours are Monday-Friday 0730-1600
Duties
Assigns, directs, and evaluates the work of subordinates.
Ensures bills are properly prepared for presentation to insurance companies and attorneys at law.
Certifies and approves all applicable bills and vouchers.
Responsible for analyzing system requirements and making changes in programs currently in use.
Provides monthly and quarterly reports Director of Resource Management (DRM) and Defense Health Agency as required.
Processes the more complex Third-Party Collection Program bills, researching information to accomplish the function.
Monitors the office's billing and collection procedures.
Periodically reviews job descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy.
Makes recommendations concerning the proper resourcing of the program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a SECRET National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (ANACI) background check.
- This position requires the successful completion of the Financial Management Level 2 Certification within 2 years of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position may be eligible for Situational/Ad-HOC Telework.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) processing third-party collections program bills, 2) ensuring bills are properly prepared for presentation to insurance companies and attorneys at law and 3) Have a understanding of regulations and directives for insurance and military billing.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
