You will serve as a CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the PLANNING, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS LINE of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will manage multiple priorities and provide technical recommendations/solutions to complex problems encountered during the administration of the construction contracts. You will manage the contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) and ensuring timely responses. You will utilize knowledge of construction safety principles and practices in administration of assigned projects to mitigate any safety incidents on the project. You will assist in negotiation of contract modifications to the extent possible and within designated thresholds under the direction of the Contracting Officer to ensure the most fair and reasonable cost is determined.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing administrative work to provide material, services, equipment, and contract support for construction projects; 2) Negotiating and administering construction contracts to ensure specifications and quality assurance are in compliance; 3) Oversee maintenance and construction projects (e.g., estimating, planning, execution) to provide quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness of facilities maintenance projects and services; and 4) Utilizing the principles, methods, and tools of quality assurance, quality control, process improvement, and reliability used to ensure that a project, system, or product meets requirements and standards.
