Duties
This announcement may be used to fill vacancies in any area of DFAS OGC practice described above.
Serves as an Attorney responsible for identifying agency interests, facts, and relevant issues; conducting sound and thorough legal research and insightfully applying the law to draw sound legal conclusions and solutions.
May litigate cases before Administrative law forums to include MSPB, EEOC, ASBCA and FLRA. Supports DOJ on DFAS cases in federal court.
May practice law advising clients in multiple areas, such as acquisition, admin law, FOIA, Privacy Act, bankruptcy and debt collection, contract pay, admin and employment and labor law, military pay, retired pay and annuity pay, and civilian pay.
Establishes cooperative relationships with clients by providing legal advice that considers clients' strategic objectives, goals and business alternatives.
Renders opinions on legal problems involving complex issues with little or no legal precedents and makes recommendations for action.
May aid the client in the development of policy and legislative legal solutions.
Conducts complex meetings and/or special projects.
Provides suggestions and recommendations for process improvement.

Qualifications
GS-13 Qualifications: Assignments require the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. In addition, the attorney shall have professional legal experience in excess of 2 years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position and includes active litigation.
